The Knossos Palace is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete. It was probably the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. The ruins at Knossos were discovered in 1878 by Minos Kalokairinos, a Cretan merchant and antiquarian and is today one of the major tourist attractions on Crete.
