Koldinghus Castle - Kolding - Denmark - European Tourist Guide - euro-t-guide.com
The Koldinghus Castle was originally a royal castle and has a history that goes back to the the 13th century. In 1808 - during the Napoleonic wars - the castle suffered a catastrophic fire caused by some Spanish soldiers who were stationed at the castle. After the fire most of the castle was left in ruins for more than 180 year. In the 1980's it was eventually decided to restore the old castle. The restoration was completed in 1991 and today it is a historical museum.
