Belgium - Bastogne Historical
Centre - 1 |
|

Bastogne Historical Centre & American Memorial are
some of the great landmarks regarding the history of "The battle of the Bulge" -
also know as the battle in the Ardennes, which took place in
December 1944 and January 1945. This is one of the most well-known battles
from World War II. The memorial and museum is located on a hill just outside
Bastogne.

Bastogne Historical Centre is located
in a rather special building. Unfortunately the museum has a very
strict "No photography" policy, so we have no photos from the inside
of the museum - see below.

comment:
This museum has
a completely foolish and very visitor unfriendly
"No photography" policy, which they insist on via posters for each
2-4 metres all over the museum.
Therefore we have no pictures from inside this museum.
From the euro-t-guide.com
we don't understand why some museums keep up this very old-fashioned
and "closed" approach to the public taking pictures. Private
or semi-professional pictures will often give the museum a lot of free PR - especially
if they are used on the Internet.
The use of flash can be a problem. We understand and respect this,
but then just ban the use of flash.
The museum has a very nice
collection of authentic uniforms and items from the Battle of the Bulge
(incl.
a few vehicles), so it is worth to visit - even if it is one of the
more expensive museums in the area.
But if you want to bring pictures back from your visit, then you
should consider to visit one of the other World War II museums in
the area. They all have a more visitor friendly policy towards
photography - and often have more or less the same kind of
exhibition.
