Belgium - Menin Gate Memorial - 1 |
|

The Menin Gate Memorial (to the Missing) is located at one of
the streeets leading into the city square.
The memorial holds the name of more than 54,000 soldiers who's
bodies were never recovered during the many fears battles that took
place near Ypres during World War I. The site of the Menin Gate was
chosen because of the hundreds of thousands of men who passed
through it on their way to the battlefields.
